OUR PROGRAM

Since 2011, MMMM’s devoted Nairobi team – Steve, Erika, Lucy, Henry, Diana, Jeff and Philister – have been compassionately assisting impoverished Kenyan children.

In the past, we provided local orphanages with daily meals, clean drinking water, cooking equipment, farming equipment, clothing and shoes, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, computers, school and office supplies, books, academic furniture, and medical assistance.

In 2019, after a great deal of careful planning, we redirected our charitable efforts deep into the slums of Nairobi, where we now work directly with extremely needy families (many of them led by widowed or abandoned mothers), most of whom survive on a dollar or two a day. These families reside in tiny makeshift homes with neither running water nor private toilets.

We help the families in our program with 90% annual school fees for each child; we require parents to responsibly pay 10% whenever possible, so as to take ownership of their children’s education. In cases in which incoming MMMM students have been out of school due to overwhelming arrears, MMMM will often settle these debts on their behalf. MMMM also provides our kids with sturdy school shoes, uniforms, backpacks, textbooks and stationery, at no charge to their parents. Our students are welcome to visit our office every afternoon for homework assistance and personal support.

Additionally, as the families in our program struggle to feed their children, MMMM provides nutritional counseling and basic healthy food staples which cover about one-half of their monthly nourishment, as well as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary pads and other hygienic supplies. We also assist our families with a 50-50 matching program to cover their national health insurance monthly premiums. And we provide optical and dental assistance for the children.

Our team makes regular home visits to our MMMM families to check on their general health and well-being. We monitor our children in the schools in which we have enrolled them.

We host monthly support groups with the MMMM parents and weekend outreach sessions for the kids. We require all parents to participate in our "chama" savings group. Our team members provide financial guidance and household planning, as well as emotional counseling.

The MMMM team is always available to assist our families via phone, text and email. The MMMM Nairobi office is open five days a week and is located on the campus of the Nairobi primary school that the majority of our children attend.
